Friends of Music Education for Haiti (FMEH) was founded by acclaimed classical violinist, the late Romel Joseph in 2010 to foster music education for the young survivors of the earthquake in Haiti. Mr. Joseph valued education because of the opportunities it created in his life. He was a blind child who was raised in an orphanage for disabled children. Through the Episcopal nuns who directed the orphanage and a missionary who gave him violin lessons for four years, Mr. Joseph was afforded the opportunity to attend the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and ultimately, the prestigious Juilliard School of Music. Consequently, Romel Joseph devoted his personal and professional life to the enthusiastic pursuit of sharing his love of music with children around the world.
