The legacy of Baptist Haiti Mission stretches as far back as 1946 when John Turnbull and his son Wallace arrived in the small mountain community of Fermathe. Our founders, Wallace and Eleanor Turnbull, dedicated their lives to cultivating change in the Haitian people through the transformative power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In the last 70 years we have witnessed small groups of converts blossom into growing churches. We have seen children learn to read and write in grade school and then those same kids progressing into high school and on to university and who are now able to attend the Masters program at BHM. We have seen basic first aid efforts burst into clinic development and the establishment of a hospital that is now serving over 10,000 people a year. We have seen primitive trades mature into professional work projects and a Christ centered vocational program that helps church members find employment. We have literally seen tens of thousands of people commit to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through His movements within these ministries.
