The HEART in Haiti School is a model of excellence in teaching, learning and sustainable education. Our Mission is to educate the whole child, empowering them to reach their full potential.
Our school is located in an impoverished community in Haiti. Our motto is giving a hand up, not a hand out. We do this through education and providing an example of building and living sustainably. Our school is made out of shipping containers, we grow food on the school grounds and produce bio fuel to cook with. Showing our students new ways to grow and cook food, without cutting down trees is a model for environmental regeneration.
We have many innovative programs at our school including art therapy and a music program. Each year since the devastating earthquake of 2010, we have added a new class. This year, we have 138 students and grades Pre-K through 6th grade and are employing 24 local people.
