EGI is a nonprofit business accelerator program in Port-au-Prince with a mission to expand entrepreneurship in Haiti and create sustainable jobs and businesses. Through EGI's ten month business education training program, EGI provides free training, mentoring, access to legal services, and connections to Haitian investors for local entrepreneurs launching or expanding micro and small enterprises.
EGI's method of operation is to:
-Offer high quality teaching, training, mentoring, access to finance, and personal finance skills to Haitian entrepreneurs free of charge so they have the necessary education and support to develop small enterprises, grow the economy, and create jobs
-Provide a pathway for new enterprises and small businesses to formally register with the government so that they can pay taxes, legally hire workers, and receive investments
-Develop and grow the Haitian business workforce and launch formal businesses that focus on sectors that add value to the Haitian economy, such as sustainable energy, agribusiness, health, and technology services
- Build an entrepreneurial ecosystem and network that connects new start-ups and ideas with the established Haitian private sector community
- Partner with the University of Notre Dame to incorporate a unique social impact experience for MBA students who consult with EGI
