Founded in 1993, Groupe URD is an independent institute specialized in humanitarian and post-crisis practices and policies .
Initially a dialogue group between development and emergency actors - who intervene differently but whose action is often intermingled in the field - Groupe URD has made it possible to:
Confronting points of view and experiences;
Create a dialogue, and better understand the new crises, new contexts and new field issues that were developing in the post-Cold War world;
Think about the possible and even necessary linkages between different types of actors.
It was then structured in 1997 in its current form of association law 1901 to go further in its mandate. Its role today is to support the actors in the process of improving the quality of programs by carrying out evaluation , research , training and methodological support activities.
In order to act as closely as possible in the field and to promote lessons learned, Groupe URD sets up observatories of aid practices in crisis contexts , as in the past in Haiti, Chad and Afghanistan.
